Traditionally, medical science is divided into clinical medicine, rehabilitation medicine, preventive medicine, and healthcare medicine. It respectively studies the treatment of general diseases, rehabilitation of people with functional disabilities, disease prevention, as well as the impact and protection of the environment and life on health. 

In accordance to increasing healthcare needs, the concept of "Healthy China" is proposed, and medical concepts, diagnosis and treatment, technology, and methods in modern rehabilitation hospitals have considerably changed. Today, an integrated and comprehensive treatment is implemented to improve human bodily function.

Modern rehabilitation medicine integrates a comprehensive concept of clinical medicine and prevention and health care; aiming to improve human body function and quality of life. With the rise of the national program of "Healthy China," the demands for rehabilitation groups are getting higher. At the same time, the modern, sophisticated rehabilitation equipment and new clinical rehabilitation technologies have become the core force of practicing optimal rehabilitation.

On May 8th, guided by the Mobile Network Administration of the CPC Central Committee and assisted by the Chinese Association of Artificial Intelligence, Kwangmyong and Scienjoy jointly held a live broadcast of  "Hello, New Era". It went inside the medical rehabilitation of the hospital affiliated to Peking University, offering viewers a closer look at the unique charm of a modern rehabilitation method such as "Iron Man."

This live broadcast was led by Ma Hongwei, executive director of pain and minimally invasive surgery. Other professionals also made a comprehensive presentation of the concept of medical rehabilitation available at affiliated hospital of Peking University and its rehabilitation equipment. Among these presenters are the dean of medical rehabilitation at the affiliated hospital of Peking University, Zhang Qingmin, head of intensive rehabilitation ward and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Ma Xiaopeng, deputy director of the division of bone and joint  rehabilitation, Tang Ke, and therapists of the rehabilitation department, Ji Hongjun, Zeng Guojiao, Chen Yan. 

At the beginning of the live broadcast, President Zhang Qingmin introduced the hospital’s conditions and hardware facilities. As a modern rehabilitation hospital, the hospital has a total construction area of 30,000 sqm and a rehabilitation treatment facility of more than 4,000 sqm. Under the leadership of Peking University Founder Group and Peking University Medical Group, significant progress has been made in several aspects within only 3 years. The advancement is very concrete in the field of neurological rehabilitation, orthopedic rehabilitation, neck and shoulder rehabilitation, pain and minimally invasive surgery. Each discipline has formed its own characteristics, has a large number of patients, and is widely renowned. In the future, this hospital will continue to make efforts in its inpatient care.

At the same time, efforts should be intensified in rehabilitation center, home care, and hospital construction. Great measures should be made to establish a standardized management system in order to improve the rehabilitation care.

Zhang Yuanchang also mentioned that the hospital is equipped with two kinds of medical devices. The first includes the essentials, such as the cardiac function and oxygen tank, and other vital equipment. The second device type is complementary, applying more importantly to intensive rehabilitation, such as ward beds. 

After the interview with the Zhang Yuanchang, with the guidance of Director Ma, the host went to the second floor. Three rehabilitation therapists Ji Hongjun, Zeng Guojiao, and Chen Yan made an introduction to the working principle of high-tech medical rehabilitation equipment such as lower limb rehabilitation robot, anti-gravity treadmill and upper limb rehabilitation robots which are applicable to people. 

The live streams enables viewers to have a deep understanding of physical therapy and intensification of homework therapy. Director Ma Hongwei gave a detailed introduction to the non-invasive and minimally invasive surgical treatment of nerve pain, spinal pain, joint pain, and headache. The advanced rehabilitation concepts integrated with high-tech science offer a more comfortable and painless treatments for patients. 

The host then visited the severe rehabilitation and hyperbaric oxygen treatment center. Ma Xiaopeng, the director of the critical rehabilitation ward and hyperbaric oxygen treatment center, said that although the current priority treatment for severely ill patients is only to maintain vital signs, it is also very necessary to carry out the rehabilitation for these patients. Hyperbaric oxygen chamber is a type of physical therapy with a very good impact. In order to help these patients and keep a positive mood for speedy recovery, patients with severe diseases can choose to live in a small room with their family members. This part touched the viewers.

At the end of the livestream, the host paid a visit to the sports rehabilitation center of the bone and joint disease; widely known by viewers as "Senile Kindergarten". It is understood that the department is comprised of many international and domestic orthopedic and rehabilitation experts, based on international advanced orthopedic rehabilitation technology,  and aims to carry out rehabilitation treatment of bone and joint diseases. It develops an individual treatment plan according to the patient's physical condition so that the patient can recover as soon as possible. It mainly treats patients with these diseases such as cervical spondylosis, periarthritis of shoulder, lumbar disc herniation, osteoarthritis, sports injuries, various fractures, orthopedic surgery and other illnesses diagnosis and rehabilitation.

In this live broadcast, the experts and doctors interviewed introduced the specific situation of the hospital about the rehabilitation equipment and also replied to the questions sent by the viewers and shared their professional advice. The live broadcast platform was so crowded that it turned into a large-scale online consultation site. The live broadcast lasted for one and a half hours with 1.27 million viewers. As a leader in this industry, medical rehabilitation hospital affiliated to Peking University is believed to have set a good example for national medical rehabilitation to better serve people in the future.
